Pectin is a type of soluble fiber found in the walls and tissues of plant cells. Apples contain a particularly high amount of pectin unlike other fruits and vegetables. Pectins are regulators of intestinal transit, increase the volume of the fecal bolus, acting as mild laxatives and prebiotics. Likewise, the ability of pectins to retain water allows the use of apple as an antidiarrheal. Pectins also give the fruit demulcent activity (mucous membrane protector), and help to control cholesterol. Pectin has a chelating effect thanks to the presence of rhamnogalacturonan, being a good complement in detoxification programs. According to the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN), the recommended minimum daily amount of fiber, both in children and adults, is 25 g.

How to take Apple Pectin?

1 tablet a day after a meal or according to individual needs. As a complement to a detoxification program, the recommended dose is 2 capsules one to three times a day with plenty of water, 30 minutes before meals.
