Properties and benefits of Red myrtle

Red myrtle is found in Lebanon, Oman, North Africa and South West Europe in areas of scrubland or maquis. But also around the Mediterranean. It is a bushy shrub, which can reach the venerable age of 300 years! Its leaves are opposite, persistent, sensitive to excessively dry ambient air. Its flowers are white. They look a bit like bushy St. John’s wort flowers with a diameter of 1-2 cm. The floral scent is shimmering. The fruits look like blueberries, they are small purple-black berries.
