Acetyl-L-Carnitine (formerly Carnityl) enhances neurotransmitter regulation, which can support optimal nerve function.

Thorne’s Acetyl-L-Carnitine supports the health of the nerves in the upper and lower limbs and enhances the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which supports brain function. Acetyl-L-carnitine also helps minimize the discomfort due to alterations in nerve function; for example, in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or individual with high blood sugar. Acetyl-L-carnitine is better absorbed and crosses the blood-brain barrier more rapidly than L-carnitine. Studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in supporting cognitive health and maintaining a positive mood in the elderly, possibly by partially inhibiting the activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and lowering chronically elevated cortisol levels, which become elevated during stress. In addition to acetyl-L-carnitine’s support of brain and nerve health, it also promotes healthy sperm count and motility.
