Oligomeric proanthocyanidins, as a group of differentiated compounds, receive their name from the flavonoids from which they are obtained. This class of compounds are found in very high concentrations in the skin and seeds of different plant species. The simplicity of their chemical structure differentiates these versatile compounds from the more complex flavonoids from which they are partially derived.
