What is histamine?

Histamine is a messenger substance that belongs to the group of so-called biogenic amines. It can be synthesized by the body itself, however, it can also be obtained naturally, as it is present in many foods. Being a biological messenger substance, histamine has several functions in the body. As a neurotransmitter, it intervenes, among other functions, in the regulation of the sleep-wake rhythm and in the control of appetite, as well as in memory and learning capacity. However, histamine acts mainly as a process mediator in allergic reactions.

What happens to histamine that we get from food?

Under normal conditions, eating foods containing histamine will have no consequences, as these food-derived histamines will be quickly broken down in the intestine by the body’s own diamine oxidase (DAO) enzyme. When a diet high in histamine is consumed, the activity of this diamine oxidase (DAO) enzyme may not be sufficient, leading to delayed degradation of histamine in the intestine. Additionally, certain medications can significantly reduce the activity of the DAO enzyme. When the breakdown of histamine is delayed, its level in the body will increase momentarily.

How does DAOSin® work?

The DiAminoOxidase contained in DAOSin® complements the body’s own enzyme, which is responsible for metabolizing histamine. Taking a capsule of DAOSin® before each meal increases the amount of DAO in the small intestine and, therefore, the ability to break down histamine. This accelerates the processing in the digestive tract of the histamine present in food, which is the trigger of the symptoms.

How to take Pack Daosin?

It is recommended to take one tablet with a small amount of water 15 minutes before a meal containing histamine. The maximum recommended daily dose is three tablets (equivalent to three daily meals containing histamine).

Precautions

It is absolutely necessary to take DAOSiN® before a meal (ideally about 15 minutes before). After this time, the tablet should have dissolved and the DAO it contains will be active by the time the histamine-containing food reaches the intestine. The tablet should not be chewed; it should be swallowed whole to allow the contents to pass through the stomach and reach the intestine undisturbed. If you are taking medication regularly, ask your doctor or pharmacist if any of the active ingredients in these medications can reduce the breakdown of histamine. Alcohol can substantially inhibit the activity of the DAO enzyme.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of reach of young children.

Storage conditions

Store the product protected from light, in a dry place and at room temperature. After opening the aluminum bag, store in a cool place. Shelf life without refrigeration 3 months after opening the aluminum bag.
