Nigari is a natural crystal of magnesium chloride of marine origin, unrefined. The raw material, magnesium chloride crystals, come from Qinghai province, China, in a preserved environment at an altitude of 3700-4500 m.

Properties and benefits of Nigari – magnesium chloride

Before the uplifting of the land, this region sheltered an ocean from which brackish waters loaded with minerals remain today. These minerals dehydrate in salt lakes and produce naturally concentrated magnesium chloride crystals, without chemical treatment or additives. The product is then processed in Japan: dissolution, cleaning, and crystallization until the famous crystals are obtained.

How to take Nigari – magnesium chloride?

It is recommended as a coagulant for making tofu.

It is also used as “magnesia water”: dilute 20 g of nigari with 1 L of water and consume a glass (100 ml) each day. A glass of this drink covers 60% of the recommended daily amount of magnesium.
