Properties and benefits of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil

Originally from Australia, this tree is found in forests on hills and mountains. It grows between 30 and 50 m tall. It has the same characteristics as other eucalyptus trees: rounded young leaves (characteristic: bluish-grey reflections), lanceolate adults, white flowers with numerous stamens in the leaf axils and a hemispherical, woody fruit.

Its Latin name “Globulus” refers to the shape of the fruit’s operculum. In southern Europe, the blue gum has long been used to produce pulp, especially in Europe and Africa. However, its production depleted the soil and it was then difficult to reforest. We also speak of “green desert” for eucalyptus plantations.
